Atlanta, Georgia

From the Civil War, through the Civil Rights movement, to its current unofficial title of "Capital of the New South," Atlanta has grown into one of the largest and most influential cities in the United States. The culinary traditions of Atlanta are greatly informed by its location in the heart of the American southeast, as well as its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and its status as a destination for people relocating from Louisiana. Locals and visitors to Atlanta will have their choice of great barbeque, soul food, seafood, Cajun food, and Creole cuisine. Perhaps Atlanta's most notable contribution to the world of food and beverage came in 1886 when Dr. John S. Pemberton invented what has become the world's most popular soft drink, Coca-Cola.

About me:
I had a roommate a few years ago and he was a great cook. I guess it just inspired me to learn and become a bit of competition. It has worked out well so far.

Anything that my picky kids scarf down get's 5 stars in my book! I just took one back because I had to add salt to make it perfect.

Cowboy Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed on Oct. 1, 2008 by gnomette
I made these last night and they were fantastic! Even better after they have cooled completely, and they even warm up well in the microwave, or toaster oven. I added the 1 tsp of Vanilla Extract and the additional cup of oatmeal like reviewers suggested. The recipe makes A LOT of cookies. I used a 1 tsp scoop so the cookies were small, but even if you were making bigger cookies, this recipe make plenty :) I finished scooping the rest of the batch and froze it. I hope they work out when I want to have them again :) Next time I will cut down on the sugar by 1/2 cup and see if I like that just as much.

Sweet Fried Summer Squash

I followed the recipe exactly and it was great. I also made a batch extra crispy and didn't like that as much.
